She’s constantly reimagining the use of fabrics, colors, and construction when creating must-have basic wardrobe staples. As the gatekeeper of the Zadig & Voltaire aesthetic, Cecilia is steadfast in her interpretation of the house’s design ethos: rocker androgyny mixed with discreet luxury. She and Thierry Giller, the founder of Zadig & Voltaire, worked together in the development of the brand’s blockbuster scent. In 2009, her creative passion spread beyond just the fashion and accessories spheres of the house with the development of the perfume, Tome 1. Overseeing all areas, from manufacturing, fabric and color selections to accessories and collections for women, men, and children, Cecilia and her team of stylists preside over the brand from first prototype to finished product.
By 2006, after having familiarized herself with all aspects of the Zadig & Voltaire business she was appointed artistic director for the brand. Harnessing her ambition to transition from modeling to design, she landed a coveted assistant position at Zadig & Voltaire that would lay the foundation for an all encompassing career at the brand. Moving from her native Sweden to Paris, she fronted campaigns for prestigious brands such as Hermès, Clarins, and Armani, lensed by such legends as Hans Feurer and Michel Comte.
At the age of 17 she was spotted by a modeling agency and began her career in fashion. Cecilia Bönström was destined to be involved in the fashion landscape.
